Tres Vistas Complex
We identified the importance of creating an iconic building—one that is easily recognizable, a true symbol of the city. Contemporary, yet not tied to any specific trend. A building with such a clear idea that it feels as though we’ve known it forever.
Given conditions include the project’s total area and the commercial, residential, and office uses that make up the building. For the commercial component, it is obvious that the best place to locate it is near the access level. As for the other two uses, we must accommodate 14,000 m² across 12 floors. The most efficient way to divide this volume is into three buildings, allowing for better lighting and ventilation. Working with three elements also benefits us compositionally.
The central idea structuring the project is to create a journey that leads from the everyday world of the city to one of introspection and contemplation. This is achieved through the placement of the architectural program’s elements along the path: a flower market that welcomes visitors to the site, the wake building that separates the world of the living from that of the dead, and the burial grounds, which include crypts, columbaria, the crematorium, and an open chapel as the culmination of the route.
The project also establishes a boundary for the future growth of San Miguel de Allende, preventing the formation of an unstructured urban periphery.
