Brujas 26
As cities grow exponentially, they often absorb buildings from another era—structures that were once detached from the urban fabric and suddenly find themselves immersed in it.
This is the case of a 1903 estate located in the Brujas neighborhood of Querétaro, which borders the historic center to the south and residential districts on its other sides. With an exceptional location, a building with a unique character and the intention of fostering life in the city center rather than expanding toward the periphery, a residential complex of five apartments has been developed—offering the best of both worlds.
The estate stands on a 1,312 m² lot with access from both a secondary street and the neighborhood. Two monumental Indian laurels flank the construction and serve as key elements of the site. Within the existing building, three apartments have been adapted, while two more occupy a new structure. Conceptually, exposed industrial brick was chosen for the new building to establish a dialogue between materials, though produced through different methods. Volumes clad in zinc sheets complete both structures, visually linking them. Each apartment averages 170 m², providing the comfort of a larger home without unused space.
